I've had Jake since I was a kid. He was a Christmas present.
At the time we did'nt have a lot of money so I got him used. It did'nt matter to me. I was glad
to get a new Joe. He had a black mark on his upper lip so I gave him a mustach with an ink pen. The first custom paint job
I ever did on a fig.
About ten years ago, Laura found a book about people repainting dolls. So I figured if they can
do it with Babs I could do it with action figures. That's when I learned about artist's paste and Jake got his first beard
and real repaint.
Jake had a couple of newer Vintage model Joe bodies. Though his vintage style body was
fine, I wanted to see if I could give him one of the newer brand bodies. So I went to my friends at Cotswold and
ordered some of the new neck adaptors people are using to change heads between Dragon bodies and other brands of bodies. I
decided to try a BBI 3.5 body. I've heard good things about this body and have always been happy with BBI's Cy girl Perfect
body.
When I got the adaptors, I found that they were too short to give Jake a proper neck length. So
I cut and clayed two of them together to give him the right neck length. I had to glue his head to the adaptor, but now I
can put his head on any of the new brand bodies I want to try out.
